Friends & Foes in a world of plants

Each organism can be a friendly or a hostile one. Depends on the point of view. Bacteria, viruses, insects, mites, birds, nematodes or even plants. Everybody is trying to make a living actually. Can be friends or foes.

Growing plants means defending them

How can we tell who’s the good, and who’s the bad cop? Mother nature took care of it simply by law: eat or be eaten. So, if you grow some crops, ornamental plants and want to retain some yield, even aesthetics of your garden, you will monitor such grow closely. Dots, eaten parts, wilt or some other unwanted symptom will appear. Everybody’s gotta enemy of its own, and a suitable host. In this case – a plant host. You can fight the symptoms biologically, mechanically, chemically – take your pick. Whichever measure you choose – it will be taken in order to defend your plants from foes. Just remember – when it comes to population control, everybody’s having sex. Both Friends & Foes.

Friends & Foes in our stories

Foremost, we will write about hostile organisms. So called Pests. They come in many shapes and colours. We will give you their first and their last name, their eating habits, biology, and ecology. How to get rid of them as well. Still, dynamic relationship between plant host and its pest can be tricky, so we will stick to: Keep your friends close, but your enemies closer. Hopefully, by introducing all their features, you will be able to keep them away and retain your plants as beautiful and healthy as they can be.
